Botulinum toxin

Wrinkle correction with botulinum toxin is a minimally invasive, painless method that takes about 15 minutes. The effects of the treatment become visible in the first 48 to 72 hours, and the maximum effect is reached 1-2 weeks after the procedure and persists for about 4-6 months.

Wrinkle correction with botulinum toxin (botox) is a fast and effective method to combat the unsightly appearance of facial wrinkles, as well as to prevent the formation of new wrinkles due to the stimulation of fibroblasts.

Botulinum toxin is produced by the bacterium clostridium bacterium which blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, thus blocking muscle contraction. Injection of a small amount of botulinum toxin into hyperactive muscles, which are responsible for the appearance of skin wrinkles, will cause their temporary relaxation resulting in the wrinkle removal.

Wrinkles are formed physiologically due to repeated muscle contraction and based on the loss of elastic and tonic support of skin tissue. There are 2 types of wrinkles: dynamic wrinkles or expression wrinkles and static wrinkles.

This treatment is performed only preceded by a thorough clinical examination, in order to avoid the occurrence of adverse reactions or interactions with certain drugs, as well as in order to detect associated pathologies that contraindicate the administration of botulinum toxin.

Regarding the contraindications of botulinum toxin, we mention the hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin type A, pregnancy and lactation, myasthenia gravis, coagulopathies.
